Guides are written to inform, not to sell. No business or manufacturer can pay to change what a guide says, and we never accept payment for recommendations.

We work from official and industry sources: the CIRIA Code of Practice for property flood resilience, Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, SEPA and DfI guidance, BSI product standards and Flood Re.
Plain English
We explain what each measure does, when it helps, when it does not, and what to ask a specialist — so readers can make their own decision.
Dated and reviewed
Every guide shows when it was last updated. Guides are reviewed at least once a year and whenever grants, standards or schemes change.

Flood Protection Finder editorial team
Our guides are researched and written by the Flood Protection Finder editorial team. We follow official guidance, industry standards and changes to grants and insurance schemes across the UK, and update guides when they change.
How we use AI
Some blog articles are drafted with the help of an AI writing tool, working from a brief set by our team: it is told to follow official guidance, not to invent statistics, prices, grant amounts or quotes, and to link only to pages on this site and official sources. Every such article is labelled “Drafted with AI assistance” in its byline, and shows “not yet reviewed” until a member of our team has checked it. Our main service guides are written and reviewed by people.
If you spot a mistake, please tell us and we will correct it.
How a guide is made
- Research. We start from the official guidance and standards listed below, plus questions homeowners actually send us.
- Write. We explain options neutrally, including when a product is not the right answer, and link to the source for each key claim.
- Check. Facts, figures, prices and grant amounts are checked before publishing. Prices are shown as typical ranges, not quotes.
- Date and review. Each guide shows its last-updated date and is reviewed at least every 12 months.
Independence and advertising
Businesses can pay for better placement in the directory. Paid positions are always labelled, and payment never buys a "Verified" badge, a review, or a mention in a guide. How rankings work explains the order in full.
Reviews are checked under our reviews policy. Badges describe only the checks stated on each profile.
